From the north pole to the south, and every compass point in between, the beauty and diversity of our planet is as boundless as the stars above. Join Como Friends as we gather again under the night sky for Sunset Affair: Stargazing, a benefit to celebrate the animals, plants and people that make Como Park Zoo & Conservatory a natural wonder.
Your contributions to the Sunset Affair Fund-A-Mission help support everything we do at Como to bring plants, animals and people together in one of Minnesota’s most cherished settings where cost is not a barrier.
Your gifts will inspire the next generation of conservation champions, welcome Minnesota’s diverse community to Como, reimagine gardens and animal habitats, keep the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory growing, help sustain the highest quality of care for the animals and ensure free and equitable access for all visitors every day of the year.
Here are a few examples of how contributions of any amount can make an impact for our polar bears, penguins and puffins—and all the animals and gardens at Como.
Supply Como Zoo keepers with equipment they need to provide world-class veterinary care to the animals—including a tonometer to promote optical health, a spectrophotometer for water quality testing, and a special crate designed for polar bear ear and dental exams.
Provide boomer balls, puzzle feeders and other enrichment items to keep Como’s animals like penguin Vern, puffin Rocky, and polar bear Kulu engaged, playful and curious.
Launch a comprehensive three-year integrated pest management program in the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory that will reduce the use of pesticides by expanding the use of beneficial insects to manage unwanted pests.
Develop future stewards of the natural world through innovative education programming, while supporting the critical conservation work Como’s horticulturists and zookeepers are championing here and across the globe.
